OpenTrain is recruiting Mathematics specialists who can write Python reference solutions for project-based AI work. The ideal contributor has a degree in Mathematics (pure or applied) or a closely related field, two or more years of research, applied, or teaching experience, and Python proficiency strong enough to encode rigorous reference solutions. We look for fluency with, or a strong willingness to independently learn, at least one scriptable mathematical package such as Z3, cvc5, Macaulay2, Singular, CasADi, IPOPT, SDPB, G6K, fpylll, or SageMath. Candidates whose primary language is MATLAB, R, C, or SQL are still welcome to apply when their Mathematics background is strong. Strong written English at the C1 level or higher is required, since contributors document their work, justify their reasoning, and iterate on problems in writing with senior reviewers. Contributors design computational Mathematics problems anchored to specialized open-source tools, where the tool's solver or symbolic engine does the core work (not generic libraries like NumPy or SymPy). They write Python reference solutions and establish numerical ground truth with a domain-appropriate tolerance, provide the input files needed for a sandboxed, offline Linux environment, and iterate on problems through a peer-review QA process with senior domain experts. Engagements are project-based and non-permanent, with active phases that typically run about 10 to 20 hours per week over a few months. Contributors apply, complete one or more qualification tasks, join an active project, complete tasks, and get paid through the partner platform that hosts the engagement.
