While my primary expertise is frontend engineering, I've worked hands-on with AI training data through several projects. On NarrativeNest, I curated and processed a dataset of 58,000 African stories cleaning, structuring, and preparing the data to fine-tune GPT-3.5 and Mistral models for culturally relevant story generation. On DermDetect, I engineered a data pipeline combining two medical imaging datasets (HAM10000 and ISIC 2018) totalling 15,000+ dermatoscopic images, applying augmentation strategies that improved model generalisation by 35% across 9 classification categories. Both projects required careful attention to data quality, labelling consistency, and understanding how upstream data decisions affect downstream model performance. What makes my background a bit different is that I also build the products that sit on top of these models. So I've seen firsthand how messy training data shows up as a bad user experience and how good curation makes a model actually useful to the person clicking buttons on the other end. I'm comfortable with prompt engineering, evaluating outputs for accuracy and bias, and thinking about data not just as a training input but as something that eventually has to work in a real product.
