Seismic First-Break Picker (Geophysical Data Annotator)
As a Geophysical Data Annotator, I performed first-break picking on continuous, multi-trace seismic datasets for major oil and gas projects. My role required precise identification of signal onset points across hundreds of waveforms daily, ensuring annotation quality met rigorous audit standards. I developed reference standards for distinguishing true signals from noise, supporting downstream velocity modelling workflows. • Consistently applied marking methodology to ensure data integrity under repetitive, high-cognitive-load environments. • Maintained annotation accuracy demanded by professional QC standards for clients such as CGG Veritas and TOTAL E&P. • Worked independently for extended periods to deliver error-free annotation across large volumes of refraction data. • Used mental benchmarks to differentiate genuine geophysical events from potential artefacts, analogous to quality control in AI datasets.
