In my most recent NLP project, I built a stock prediction model using news headlines and S&P 500 price movements. I independently labeled a dataset of financial news articles, aligning sentiment and relevance with market performance to generate supervised training data. This experience gave me a strong appreciation for the importance of high-quality, context-aware annotation in NLP systems. I also developed the model architecture and training pipeline, deepening my understanding of how upstream data quality directly impacts model performance. In addition, I worked on a deep learning project where I created a dendritic neural network to classify images from the Fashion-MNIST dataset, experimenting with biologically inspired architectures. As part of a school project, I also contributed to a supervised image classification task, where I manually labeled hundreds of images across different categories and validated the dataset for consistency and clarity. While my focus has often been on model development, I’m eager to pivot into AI training data because I’ve seen firsthand how critical careful labeling is to meaningful outcomes in machine learning.
